I have never been able to spell. I try to look a word up in the dictionary and then have to ask someone how to spell it when I can't find it. When I was younger my father used to return my letters with the misspellings underlined in red. I told him if he wanted to hear from me at all he had to quit doing that. I have been told at a gallery opening that I had something misspelled on a sculpture more than once. In the last month I had to correct O'Keeffe and Cheney on pieces when they were already in exhibits. Too few F's in O'Keeffe. Too many N's in Cheney. Most Artists need an agent. I need a proofreader. It would be handy if that proofreader knew how to clean the toilet, mow the lawn and cook dinner too. Until that person comes along, what you see is how it's spelled. |
